Leadership Architecture
Authority to shape organisational conditions
DE: Gestaltungsmacht
The authority and practical scope to change organisational rules, targets, resources or decision rights.
Authority to shape conditions goes beyond making decisions within an existing rule: it includes being able to change that rule. Employees, leaders and executives have different scopes of influence.
A leader may want to distribute responsibility while being constrained by mandatory approvals or conflicting targets. The organisation must clarify who can change those conditions and who supports the consequences. Personal development cannot replace missing decision rights.
